Getting Started

Are you accepting new NDIS participants?
Yes. Alpha Disability Support is currently accepting new participants. We welcome enquiries from participants, families, Support Coordinators, Plan Managers and other referrers.
Our team can discuss your support needs, goals, funding and preferred services to determine how we can assist you.
How do I get started with Alpha Disability Support?
Getting started is simple. You can contact our team directly or complete our referral form.
We will discuss your needs, the supports you are looking for, your NDIS plan and your preferred arrangements. Once we have the necessary information, we can work with you to arrange suitable services.
How quickly can services begin?
We aim to make the referral process as simple and responsive as possible. Alpha Disability Support currently aims to respond to referrals within 24 hours.
The actual start date will depend on your support needs, service availability, funding and the type of support required.
Which Melbourne suburbs do you service?
Alpha Disability Support provides disability support services across Melbourne. Service availability can depend on the type of support required and staff availability in your area.
If you are unsure whether we service your suburb, contact our team and we can confirm availability.
Can I change NDIS providers?
Yes. NDIS participants generally have the choice of which provider they use for their supports.
If you are considering changing providers, our team can discuss your requirements and help make the transition as straightforward as possible.
NDIS & Funding

Do you support Self-Managed NDIS participants?
Yes. Alpha Disability Support works with Self-Managed NDIS participants.
Self-managed participants can arrange supports directly with their chosen providers and are generally responsible for managing payments and claiming eligible supports from their NDIS plan.
Do you support Plan-Managed participants?
Yes. We support participants whose NDIS plans are managed by a registered Plan Manager.
We can work with your Plan Manager regarding invoices and payment arrangements.
Do you support NDIA-Managed participants?
Yes. Alpha Disability Support is a registered NDIS provider and can provide eligible supports to participants whose plans are NDIA-managed, subject to the supports being included in the participant’s plan and our service availability.
What happens if my NDIS funding changes?
If your NDIS funding or plan changes, please let us know as soon as possible.
We can review your current support arrangements with you and discuss how any changes may affect your services. Supports must remain consistent with your current NDIS plan and applicable NDIS rules.
Can I use my Core funding for Alpha Disability Support services?
Some Alpha Disability Support services may be funded through the Core Supports category, depending on the type of support and the participant’s individual plan.
Funding arrangements can vary between participants. We recommend discussing your plan and proposed supports with your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager or our team before commencing services.
Do I need an NDIS plan to use your services?
This depends on the service you are seeking and how you intend to fund it.
If you have an NDIS plan, we can discuss your available funding and whether the requested support is appropriate. Contact our team to discuss your circumstances.

What is Daily Living Assistance?
Daily Living Assistance helps participants with everyday activities and maintaining their independence.
Depending on individual needs, support may include personal care, meal preparation, household tasks and other activities that help participants live more independently.
What is Community Participation?
Community Participation supports participants to engage with their local community and pursue activities that are meaningful to them.
This may include social activities, community access, appointments, recreational activities, shopping, skill development and other community-based activities.
Do you provide Support Workers?
Yes. Alpha Disability Support provides trained support workers to assist participants with their individual support needs.
Support may include personal support, companionship, community participation, daily living activities and other agreed supports.
Do you provide transport assistance?
Yes. Transport Assistance may be available for eligible participants who require support to attend appointments, shopping, community activities and other approved activities.
Do you provide respite?
Yes. Alpha Disability Support provides respite and short-term support options, subject to availability and individual participant requirements.
Do you provide mental health support?
Alpha Disability Support provides support for participants with mental health and psychosocial disability-related support needs.
The type of support available will depend on the participant’s individual goals, needs, NDIS funding and our staff availability.
Referrals

How do I make a referral to Alpha Disability Support?
You can make a referral by contacting Alpha Disability Support directly or using our online referral form.
We accept enquiries and referrals from participants, families, Support Coordinators, Plan Managers and other appropriate referrers.
Can Support Coordinators refer participants?
Yes. Support Coordinators can refer participants to Alpha Disability Support.
We work with Support Coordinators to understand the participant’s needs, goals, funding and preferred support arrangements.
Can family members refer a participant?
Yes. Family members can contact Alpha Disability Support to discuss support options for a participant.
Where appropriate, we can then work with the participant, their representative and relevant members of their support team to arrange services.
What information is required to make a referral?
To help us understand the participant’s requirements, we may ask for information such as:
- Participant’s name and contact details
- NDIS plan information
- Type of funding management
- Supports required
- Participant goals and preferences
- Preferred days and times
- Location or suburb
- Relevant support or safety information
- Details of their Support Coordinator or Plan Manager, where applicable
Only information relevant to arranging and safely providing support should be provided.
How long does referral approval take?
Alpha Disability Support aims to respond to referrals within 24 hours.
The time required to commence services depends on the participant’s requirements, funding, availability and any additional information or assessments that may be required.

Yes. If you would like to discuss your situation before making a referral, you can contact our team.

Support Workers

Can I choose my support worker?
We aim to match participants with support workers who are suitable for their needs, preferences, personality, goals and support requirements.
Participant choice and comfort are important to us, and we encourage participants to communicate their preferences with our team.
Will I have the same support worker?
We aim to provide consistency wherever possible.
Having familiar support workers can help participants build trust and confidence. However, staff availability, leave, illness and other circumstances may sometimes mean that another suitable support worker is required.
Are Alpha's support workers qualified and trained?
Alpha Disability Support is committed to engaging appropriately trained and experienced staff.
Staff training and requirements depend on the role and the type of support being provided.
Are Alpha staff police checked?
Alpha Disability Support undertakes appropriate screening and checks for workers in accordance with applicable requirements.
Do Alpha staff have NDIS Worker Screening?
Workers who are required to hold an NDIS Worker Screening Check are appropriately screened in accordance with NDIS requirements.
Additional checks, qualifications or training may also be required depending on the worker’s role and the supports they provide.
Can I request a female or male support worker?
Where possible, we will take participant preferences into consideration when matching support workers.
We understand that some participants may have personal, cultural or support-related preferences and we will discuss these with you.
Community Nursing

What community nursing services do you provide?
Alpha Disability Support provides Community Nursing services tailored to participant needs.
Services may include:
- Medication management
- Wound care
- Continence support
- Health-related support
- Nursing assessments and monitoring
- Other appropriate nursing supports
The availability of specific nursing services will depend on the participant’s needs and circumstances.
Do I need a referral for Community Nursing?
You can contact Alpha Disability Support to discuss your nursing requirements.
Depending on the service required, additional clinical information, documentation or referral information may be needed before services commence.
Can Alpha nurses administer medication?
Medication support and administration may be provided where appropriate and within the nurse’s scope of practice, the participant’s needs, applicable policies and relevant requirements.
Our team will discuss the participant’s medication needs before services commence.
Do you provide wound care?
Yes. Wound care is one of the Community Nursing services offered by Alpha Disability Support.
The appropriate nursing approach will depend on the participant’s individual wound care requirements and clinical needs.
Can Community Nursing be funded through the NDIS?
Some nursing supports may be funded through the NDIS where they meet applicable NDIS funding requirements.
Funding eligibility depends on the participant’s circumstances and individual plan.
Supported Independent Living
(SIL)

What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
Supported Independent Living, commonly known as SIL, is support for NDIS participants who require assistance to live as independently as possible.
Support may include assistance with daily living, personal care, household activities, routines, community participation and developing independent living skills.
Who is eligible for SIL?
SIL is generally intended for NDIS participants who have significant support needs and require assistance to live independently.
Eligibility and funding are determined through the NDIS based on the participant’s individual circumstances and support needs.
Does Alpha Disability Support provide SIL?
Yes. Alpha Disability Support offers Supported Independent Living services, subject to participant requirements, funding and property/service availability.
Do you have SIL vacancies?
SIL vacancies can change regularly.
If you are looking for SIL accommodation, contact our team with your preferred location, support requirements and other relevant information so we can discuss current availability.
Can I inspect a SIL property before deciding?
Where a suitable property is available, participants can discuss inspection arrangements with our team.
We encourage participants and their representatives to ask questions and consider whether the home and support arrangements are suitable for their needs.
Can I choose who I live with?
Participant preferences are important when considering SIL arrangements.
We aim to consider compatibility, support needs, lifestyle preferences and other relevant factors when discussing suitable living arrangements.
Transport

Does Alpha Disability Support provide transport?
Yes. Transport Assistance is one of the services offered by Alpha Disability Support.
Transport support may assist eligible participants with activities such as appointments, shopping, community participation and other approved activities.
Can support workers drive my vehicle?
This may be possible in certain circumstances, subject to Alpha Disability Support policies, insurance requirements, worker requirements and the participant’s circumstances.
Please discuss your requirements with our team before making arrangements.
Can Alpha support workers take me to appointments?
Yes. Transport and support may be available for eligible participants attending appointments and other community activities.
Availability depends on the participant’s needs, funding and staff availability.
Can transport be used for shopping and community activities?
Transport Assistance may be available for eligible activities such as shopping and community access.
The appropriate funding and support arrangement will depend on your individual NDIS plan and circumstances.
Billing & Payments

How are Alpha Disability Support invoices sent?
Invoices are issued according to the agreed payment arrangements and may be provided to the participant, Plan Manager or other appropriate party depending on how the participant’s NDIS funding is managed.
How do Self-Managed participants pay?
Self-Managed participants generally manage their own NDIS funding and are responsible for paying providers and making claims through the appropriate NDIS process.
Alpha Disability Support can provide invoices and relevant information to assist with the payment process.
Does Alpha claim directly from the NDIA?
For eligible NDIA-managed participants, registered providers may claim approved supports through the NDIS payment system.
The ability to claim a particular support depends on the participant’s plan, the support provided and applicable NDIS requirements.
What happens if my funding is running low?
Please contact us as soon as possible if you are concerned about your remaining funding.
We can discuss your current support arrangements with you and, where appropriate, work with your Support Coordinator or Plan Manager to review the situation.
What is Alpha Disability Support's cancellation policy?
Cancellation arrangements depend on the service agreement and applicable NDIS rules.
Participants should review their service agreement and provide as much notice as possible if they need to cancel or change a scheduled support.
